Join a Mission

FAQ

Can I be part of a mission team if I do not have a group?

Yes, but we typically won't add additional people to an existing team as they have spent time on team building prior to joining us. So what we do, is gather together a group of individuals, if schedules allow, and create a custom team as the requests come in. There are also yearly opportunities to join one of our staff trips.

How many people can be on a team?

Typically a team will range in size from 4 to 10. In addition, your team will be joined by a BCMBS representative.

Are there forms that we need to fill out for my trip? When do you need them by?

Yes, we have a group application to be filled out by the leader and an individual application that must be filled out by each mission volunteer. In addition, we require a criminal record and vulnerable sector check for all volunteers 18 and older. Since we cannot start making arrangements with the communities until the paper work is received, we ask that you send your application forms in 2 months before your trip.

What does going on a mission trip cost?

Land Teams are asked to make a payment of $50 per Individual application to the BC Mission Boat Society to help cover

the administrative and preparation costs associated with your group’s mission trip. All further costs for your mission trip will be the responsibility of your team such as transportation, food, crafts, facility fees or donations. In addition, the team is responsible for covering the travel and meal costs of the BCMBS staff member while he/she is with the team.

What will we be doing on our mission trip?

Vacation Bible Schools for children (Kid’s Club), youth activities, visits with elders in their homes, fellowship gatherings, Bible studies, and music ministry. Flexibility and the willingness to be led by the Spirit into other ways your group can serve are encouraged.

What does my team need to prepare?

Your team will need to prepare a kid's club curriculum, devotions, meal plans, team gear, games and outreach activities and travel arrangements to and from Parksville, BC. This may change during different times of the year, please contact us for more information.
