Supporting Our Mission Teams

Each team contributes a fee toward the cost of their mission trip. We are grateful for their willingness to give of their time and resources, but these fees do not cover the full cost of sending a well-prepared team into a remote community. Much of what happens behind the scenes throughout the year is made possible through donor support.

Our teams are carefully prepared before they serve. Staff develop and update self- guided training each year, and teams participate in additional staff-led training, both online and in person.

This preparation helps our volunteers understand the communities they are visiting, learn how to serve respectfully, prepare for the practical challenges of remote travel, and most importantly, be spiritually prepared to share the love of Christ.

Teams are equipped with the resources they need to serve successfully.

For Kids Club, teams receive curriculum and the materials needed for a meaningful week with the children. Craft supplies are prepared and ready to go, games are provided, and healthy snacks like fresh fruits and vegetables, are purchased. In many of the communities we serve, these foods can be difficult to find or are considerably more expensive than they are in larger centres.

Teams are also supplied with the practical items they need to care for themselves while serving in the community. From toilet paper and dish soap to air mattresses and other supplies, staff work throughout the year to make sure teams can focus on ministry rather than worrying about whether they have what they need.

Staff also coordinate travel, community accommodations, promotion of team activities, preparation of materials, and countless other details that make these mission trips possible.

Supporting Communities Year-Round

Our ministry does not begin when a team arrives in a community, nor does it end when they leave. Staff remain in communication with community members throughout the year, maintaining relationships and offering prayer, encouragement, and support. These relationships are at the heart of our ministry.

During the winter months, we look for ways to remain connected with the communities and children we serve. This includes Advent kits delivered to the communities, women’s weekend retreats, and weekend Kids Clubs in communities that can be reached more easily by road.

Where Does Your Support Go?

One of the greatest expenses of this ministry is travel.

As fuel and transportation costs continue to rise, reaching remote communities has become increasingly expensive. Where possible, we use BC Ferries and community-owned water taxis, supporting local services along the way.

For example, an average team of six travelling on a BC Ferry can easily cost close to $1,000 in travel expenses. A water taxi can average approximately $3,500 for a round trip. Some communities require a combination of ferry travel, water taxi, and smaller boats to get a team safely in and out. Other teams require rental trucks to navigate gravel and logging roads.

Food is another significant expense. Whenever possible, we purchase food in the communities that have grocery stores. This allows us to support local businesses while providing food for the team and Kids Club. In the more remote communities, however, groceries can be extremely expensive.

Your donations help cover these travel, food, training, and supply costs so that our volunteers can concentrate on what they have come to do: serve people and share Christ’s love.

Two New Communities!

This year, we give special thanks to God for the opportunity to expand our ministry to two new communities: Bella Bella and Bella Coola! Dedicated volunteers from the Cariboo Circuit are now serving these communities, with teams based out of Trinity Lutheran Church in Quesnel. To make this at all possible, a complete supply of materials had to be delivered to Quesnel this year. This meant purchasing a new set of Kids Club supplies and team supplies so that these teams could serve with the same resources and preparation as our teams on the South Coast.

It was an unexpected expense, but a necessary one and we give thanks to God for providing the opportunity to reach these communities.

• Airbeds
  The airbeds provided for our teams have served us well, but many are now showing significant wear and need to be replaced.

• Cots
  Cots would provide our team members with a more comfortable and reliable place to rest after long days of travel and ministry.

• Games and Kids Club Supplies
  Many of our games and supplies are showing the wear and tear that comes with years of use and need to be replaced.

• Winter Retreats
  We would love to provide more short winter retreats for children and adults, creating opportunities for fellowship, encouragement, Bible teaching, and growing together in faith.

• Staff Travel
  Staff need to travel to promote the mission, build relationships, recruit new mission teams, and connect with congregations and supporters. These trips are an important part of ensuring the ministry can continue and grow.

• 2027 Curriculum and Supplies
  Planning and purchasing for the 2027 mission season begins well before teams leave. Your support now helps us prepare well for the year ahead.
