Home of the Dzawada’enuxw Band
Located 6.5 hours from Vancouver is Kingcome Inlet, home of the Dzawada’enuxw First Nations Band. Their main village is called Kingcome. Its 120 residents are extremely isolated from the rest of the world. Their community, Ukwanalis Village, is based alongside the Gwa’yi (Kingcome) River on the mainland in a glacier fed river valley, surrounded by tall mountains, across from the Northern tip of Vancouver Island.
About Kingcome

While the Dzawade’enuxw are isolated they do have neighbours and have shared territory in the Broughton Archipelago with three more bands. They are known as the Gwawa̱’enux̱w, Kwikwa̱sutinux̱w, and, Ha̱x̱wa’mis, all of which have a long history of co-operation with each other.
Logging and fishing were once the mainstay of the community’s economic base but both industries have decreased to the point that they are almost non-existent.

Kingcome Hopes

Due to how remote Kingcome is it is difficult to bring teams in for visits. We have been asked to visit more frequently and would like to make these trips to continue planting and watering the seeds of faith in God, the Creator, and of His Son Jesus and support their growth in faith.
