The B.C. Mission Boat Society is a Christian ministry and Listed Service Organization of Lutheran Church–Canada, that has been sharing God’s love in remote communities along the beautiful coast of British Columbia since 1999. We are seeking dynamic, adventurous young adults who have a heart for Jesus and for First Nations communities to join our ministry team for the summer of 2026 as Missionary Cross-Cultural Facilitators.

This summer position is more than a job — it is an opportunity to grow in faith, develop ministry skills, and serve alongside experienced mission leaders in coastal communities.

What You Will Do

Summer Missionary Cross-Cultural Facilitators will receive training and will work closely with the Mission Leader and B.C. Mission Boat facilitators.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Assisting with Kids’ Club programs
  • Supporting family events and youth activities
  • Participating in women’s and men’s ministry gatherings
  • Visiting and encouraging community elders
  • Helping coordinate and prepare mission teams and volunteers
  • Assisting with social media and communication
  • Organizing supplies and equipment for mission trips
  • Traveling with mission teams into coastal communities

Between mission trips, students will assist with various office tasks. As time allows, they will also support the pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church with Vacation Bible School (VBS) and other ministry activities.

Position Details

Term: 13 weeks (June 1 – August 28, 2026)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Compensation: $18 – $22 per hour

Location: Campbell River, BC and coastal mission communities

B.C. Mission Boat Society will provide:

  • Accommodation (according to applicants’ needs)
  • Travel expenses
  • Meals while on mission trips

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have a High School Diploma
  • Be pursuing post-secondary education
  • Agree with the B.C. Mission Boat Society vision, mission, and statement of faith

Desired Strengths

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and background
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team

Beneficial Skills

Although not necessary, these are advantageous:

  • Computer, social media, and audio-visual skills
  • Graphic design
  • Previous mission trip experience (any location)
  • A valid driver’s license (preferred)
