Home of the Dzawada’enuxw Band
About 6.5 hours from Vancouver lies Kingcome Inlet, the remote home of the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation. Their main village, Ukwanalis Village, is nestled along the Gwa’yi (Kingcome) River on the mainland. Surrounded by towering mountains in a glacier-fed valley across from the northern tip of Vancouver Island, the community’s 120 residents live in profound isolation from the rest of the world.
About Kingcome

While the Dzawade’enuxw are isolated they do have neighbours and have shared territory in the Broughton Archipelago with three more bands. They are known as the Gwawa̱’enux̱w, Kwikwa̱sutinux̱w, and, Ha̱x̱wa’mis, all of which have a long history of co-operation with each other.
Logging and fishing were once the mainstay of the community’s economic base but both industries have decreased to the point that they are almost non-existent.

Kingcome Hopes

Due to how remote Kingcome is it is difficult to bring teams in for visits. We have been asked to visit more frequently and would like to make these trips to continue planting and watering the seeds of faith in God, the Creator, and of His Son Jesus and support their growth in faith.
