Kyuquot

Home of the Kyuquot and Checleseht First Nations

About Kyuquot

There is a combined membership of 578 people between the two First Nations, 393 of whom live in Kyuquot. Their language, Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’/Chek’tleset’h’ is endangered with only a few traditional speakers left in the community. These rare voices of the elders are keys to connecting the past to future generations.

The Kyuquot and Checleseht are a healthy, self-sustaining, self-governing thriving community. They have a strong have a strong ceremonial culture, characterized by feasting and entertainment with song, dance, contests and theatricals.

Kyuquot Hopes

There is a small amount of believers who gather together every week in Kyuquot. They love the support and encouragement the BCMBS brings to their faith and are always welcoming the teams!

Since BCMBS has been visiting Kyuquot, we now see a second generations of believers coming to kid’s club!

We pray our support strengthens all current and future believers of Christ in Kyuquot.
